Until now, no one has established the exact depth of the source of Syri i kalter. The water comes out of the ground under high pressure and divers can not descend more than 50 meters. The water temperature in the lake, even in the hottest weather, does not exceed 10-13 degrees. It was not forbidden to plunge into the water before, now they have put a fence. But even to take a photo for memory, not every tourist can stand standing knee-deep in water, his legs are cramped from the cold. Nevertheless, there are daredevils who jump into the water. There is also a small observation deck above the "blue eye" itself, from where you can look at the source from above. There are always a lot of people there at the height of the season.
The source of the Blue Eye in Albania and the area around it, as a natural monument, are under state protection. This is a nature reserve with rich vegetation, rare species of trees. While walking around the territory, you will be accompanied by the singing of rare birds and butterflies and dragonflies of different colors will circle over your heads. By the way, they willingly sit on the hands of tourists and "pose" for photos.
If you suddenly get hungry or just want to relax in this beauty with a cup of coffee, then on both sides of the Blue Eye Lake there are two absolutely opposite places that you should see. I can't even believe that both of them are parts of a single whole and are so close to each other.
To the left of the spring, a small restaurant called Blue Eye has been built, where you can treat yourself to delicious Albanian cuisine, taste grilled lamb, goat, drink a glass of grape raki, and also enjoy the coolness on a hot summer day. The restaurant was built right above the boiling cold river. Sitting at a table, you feel like a mountain river rushing and rumbling under you, giving coolness. An indescribable feeling!
To the right of the Blue Eye spring there is another cafe, around which there is peace and quiet, fabulous landscapes with a beautiful transparent lake, whose water is like a mirror. Special bridges with gazebos beckon to spend some time here. Here you are guaranteed peace and tranquility in the middle of nature, as well as the opportunity to make beautiful photos for memory.
A few steps from the spring there are houses where you can stay for the night in the shade of trees and in the coolness. Or even spend part of your vacation there, making trips from there to the beaches of the Ionian Sea, for example, to Ksamil.
In general, this is a very beautiful place that is worth visiting. 🌺🌺🌺🌺
