The most important law of Ukraine was passed on the night of June 27 to 28, 1996. It happened on the fifth year after the declaration of independence of our state. The deputies did not leave the session hall for almost a day. After 23 hours of continuous debates 315 deputies voted for adoption of the Main Law of Ukraine.
The Constitution of Ukraine secured the legal basis of the independent state, its territorial integrity and sovereignty. This law helped to increase the international prestige of Ukraine in the world arena. After the adoption of the law on the Constitution in the session hall of the Parliament the blue-yellow national flag was solemnly brought and for the first time the national anthem of Ukraine was played.
