Horrible fire in California
id: 10044570

The Dixie Fire is the largest active fire in the United States and one of 11 major fires in California.

On Saturday, Gov. Gavin Newsom visited the blazing city of Greenville and expressed "deep gratitude" to the teams that are fighting the flames.

He said the government should allocate more resources to forest management and fire prevention. But he added that "these fires are caused by the climate."

Climate change is exacerbating droughts that are drying up regions, creating ideal conditions for the spread of wildfires that cause unprecedented material and environmental damage.

Three firefighters were injured in the Dixie fire on Saturday.

Light winds and high humidity have helped firefighters, but rescuers are gearing up for temperatures to surpass 100 degrees Fahrenheit (38 degrees Celsius) in the coming days.

Heavy smoke made it impossible for fire brigades to work in some areas.

The Plumas County Sheriff's Office said there were three missing persons on the wanted list, and two more were found over the weekend.

The Dixie fire has already destroyed about 400 buildings and is now being fought by 5,000 people.

Despite repeated orders from the authorities to evacuate, some residents remain in the field, preferring to extinguish the fire on their own, rather than leaving their property.

By the end of July, the number of hectares burned in California was up more than 250% from 2020.

According to preliminary reports, the Dixie fire sparked a tree that fell onto a power cable belonging to the regional utility company Pacific Gas & Company (PG&E), a private operator previously blamed for the 2018 fire that killed 86 people.

Let's remind:

1) Record high temperatures have caused massive fires in northern California.
2) Large-scale fires in the United States burned down at least 67 houses, authorities evacuated 2,000 people.
3) In 13 states, due to 80 large-scale fires provoked by anomalous heat, 1,174,486 acres (more than 475,297 hectares) were burned.

I read about it on the internet and I noticed that in 2021 there are many fires all over the world! I wish that all people and animals remain safe!
