What you need to do in the Old New Year: traditions
On the eve of the Old New Year - a generous evening - families gather for a rich dinner, make wishes and ask each other for forgiveness for everything.
Also on January 13, the national holiday of Malanka is celebrated. One of his main rituals is driving a goat, a theatrical action with a guy dressed as a Malanka. Participants of such a performance go home and sing shchedrivki with wishes of wealth, happiness and harvest.
On January 14, the holiday continues, but on this day they are no longer generous, but sow, and according to the tradition, only men and boys can do this.
What not to do in the Old New Year:
It is believed that in the Old New Year it is impossible to cry and be sad, take and borrow money, take out the trash, count small change, swear and slander, celebrate the holiday in old, dark and untidy clothes. Also, you should not do dirty work around the house: washing, cleaning, sewing, etc.
