There are 32 lakes in Transcarpathia, but the most attractive and charming is Synevyr, which is also the largest and deepest alpine lake in Ukraine… Lake Synevyr is rightly considered the most valuable natural treasure of the National Nature Park and one of the hallmarks of the Ukrainian Carpathians. It is located at an altitude of 989 m above sea level.
There is a legend according to which the picturesque lake was formed from the tears of the count's daughter Sin, to the place where her beloved, a simple shepherd Vira, was killed by a chimney by order of the insidious count.
In fact, Lake Synevyr was formed in the postglacial period, about 10,000 years ago due to landslides in the river valley.
The average area of the water reservoir is 4-5 hectares, the depth of the lake is on average 8-10 m. However, in some places the greatest depths of Synevyr reach 19-22 m. This is even more than in the Sea of Azov, whose deepest place is 14 m. surface and atmospheric waters, a small stream flows from the lake (Terebli river basin). Water - slightly mineralized, clean, transparent. There are three types of trout - lake, rainbow and stream. However, you will not be able to swim in Synevyr: in addition to the ban, the temperature of the water, which heats up to 11-13 ° C, will not allow.
The landscapes around the water mirror are extremely picturesque and majestic. Steep slopes, covered with slender spruces, which are 140-160 years old, fall directly to the water surface. In the middle of the lake is located, like the pupil of the blue eye, a small island only a few meters. Hence the popular name of Synevir - Sea Eye.
People with their creative imagination try to complement the beauty of nature. Architects successfully integrate observation decks into the surrounding landscape. And on the peninsula rises carved from mahogany sculptural composition of local craftsmen "Blue and Faith". The height of the monument is 13 meters, weight is about 30 tons. Reflected in the water, it is mysteriously perceived as a wonderful tale of immortal love. Many weddings from different parts of the Carpathians come to Synevyr to celebrate. It is believed that if young people met and fell in love with each other near this lake, then true love awaits them.
Not far from Lake Synevyr, on the Black River, you can visit the unique, only in Europe Museum of Forest and Rafting. Here you can get acquainted with the ancient tools of loggers, see various household and residential buildings, walk along the dam, admiring the beautiful scenery, breathing the healing aromas of fresh air.
Two and a half dozen mineral water deposits that treat the gastrointestinal tract, musculoskeletal system and even radiation sickness have been explored and studied on the territory of Synevyr National Park.
Tourist infrastructure is actively developing around the lake. Just on the shores of Synevir, you can spend the night at the camp site, enjoy bograč, the Hungarian national soup, listen to mountain musicians, buy souvenirs and take a souvenir photo at a stuffed bear in the lake.
The park staff will be happy to take you on a rafting lake, horseback riding or cycling tours. Every year on the shores of the lake is held All-Ukrainian festival "Trembitas call to Synevyr."
