The Revenant is a 2015 American action epic western film directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu. Adapted from the 2002 Michael Pahnke novel of the same name, it was written by Iñárritu and Mark L. Smith and loosely based on the life of mountain man Hugh Glass. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy. The film was nominated for twelve Oscars, winning three of them. For this role, Leonardo DiCaprio was awarded his first Academy Award🎟🎬.
🎬🎬🎬I would like to highlight all the features of this movie🎬🎬🎬:
1. The basis for the film was the novel of the same name by Michael Pahnke. In 2001, the rights to the still unpublished manuscript of the work were acquired by the American producer and screenwriter Akiva Goldsman, the author of the scripts for the films The Client, Silent Combat, Batman Forever, A Beautiful Mind - Time to Kill, The Da Vinci Code, Divergent: Chapter 2 and others📖📖.
2. Initially, the production of the film was taken over by the South Korean film director and screenwriter Park Chan-wook. He saw actor Samuel L. Jackson in the lead role, but Wook later left the project🏃🏻♂️🏃🏻♂️.
3. The prototype of the main character, embodied on the screen by the actor Leonardo DiCaprio, was a real character - the hunter Hugh Glass, who, along with other colonists of the Wild West, earned money by extracting the skins of wild animals🐗🐺.
4. It was planned to spend $ 60 million on the production of the film, but during the filming process, director Alejandro González Iñárritu announced his desire to shoot in chronological order in nature under natural light, refusing to use green screens (the so-called chroma-keys, which allow the filming process to be carried out in the studio). As a result, the budget reached $135 million🤑🤑🤑.
5. Crew members were banned from smoking during the work process, which caused several people to leave the set♨️🚭.
6. November 23 held a private screening of the film The Revenant for the nominations committee of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, responsible for the presentation of the Oscars. Some critics left the cinema, unable to bear the naturalism of the bloody scenes❌❌❌❌.
7. It is known that at a private screening, some experts regarded the scene with the attack of a bear on the hero of Leonardo DiCaprio as the rape of a person by an animal. Upon learning of this, the director lamented that he really did not shoot the rape: "It would be one of the most memorable scenes. Why didn't I think about it?!"‼️‼️‼️‼️
8. The main intrigue accompanying the film - will Leonardo DiCaprio finally get the coveted statuette of the film academy? Those who happened to see the film, note his unsurpassed acting skills. And although the National Council of Film Critics of the United States ignored the film when choosing nominees for the award for 2015, there is still a chance: on January 14 this year, the lists of nominees will be announced again. Recall that in the track record of Leonardo DiCaprio there are already five nominations for an Oscar, and all of them are empty🎉🎉.
9. World premiere of The Revenant took place on December 16, 2015. U.S. theater box office receipts for 10 days amounted to more than $1.38 million.
10. A few days before the start of the rental, promotional copies of the film The Revenant hit the Internet, and in the first day alone, more than 739,580 downloads were recorded🤭😯.
This is my favorite actor and his long wait for such an award is justified. The film is full of the difficulties of the past life of distant times. The director emphasized all aspects. I proudly recommend it😍😍
