From time immemorial, the Carpathians have been considered a place of accumulation of special energy that provides a charge of vitality, wisdom and longevity. Many legends and mystical stories are connected with the Ukrainian Carpathians, from which blood "freezes". She decided to "tickle the nerves" of readers and prepared a selection of ten mysterious places in the mountains, shrouded in darkness. Interestingly, the locals are convinced that the Hutsul region is home to real molfars. They have extraordinary abilities. Molfars settle, as a rule, on the outskirts of villages, high in the mountains, away from prying eyes, human eyes. Local healers are endowed with mystical knowledge and skills, can do both good and bad deeds. They cure serious illnesses, manage the weather and read the stars, predict the future, attract good luck and avert troubles. Such people are called differently: soothsayers, sorcerers, witches, fortune tellers. It is said that all the power of molfar lies in words and singing. There is a legend: once a year the molfar leaves his hut and goes to unknown caves. There, for twelve days, the soothsayer must be in the position of the embryo and not make unnecessary movements. Thus, it is cleaned. And only after that, the healer can return to his own home. The Molfars still live in the Carpathians, and the traveler can meet them face to face. The Museum of Hutsul Magic has even been opened in the Verkhovyna region, which contains exhibits (tools, potions, etc.) donated by relatives of the deceased molfars. Indigenous people claim that Chugaister also lives in the Carpathians. In folklore, Carpathian folklore, this creature is described differently. From the stories, we can learn that the mythical creature is a hairy giant man. Scientists speculate that the Chugaister is a snowman who moves inaudibly and quickly. Her height is two to three times that of an ordinary person, and the body is completely covered with wool or hair. There are eyewitnesses who claim to have seen the incomprehensible creature with their own eyes. But there are no photos or video evidence that Chugaister actually exists. The only thing that indicates the existence of a mysterious creature is the huge footprints that people have seen in different parts of the Carpathian region, mainly in the highlands.
