The famous Ukrainian borscht can rightfully be considered the main dish of the national cuisine. He is respected not only by Ukrainians themselves, but also by residents of other countries.

Fragrant, seasoned with beets, carrots, cabbage and potatoes, it is traditionally served with sour cream, bread or pampushkas - no less famous Ukrainian round dumplings made from yeast dough. Today, more and more often, borscht is boiled in meat broth, but before that it was only on holidays. On weekdays, this soup was usually fried from lard, garlic and onions.

Pork fat is generally one of the favorite products of all Ukrainians. It is used not only as a roast, but also to add juiciness to various meat dishes. They also grind lard with garlic, making a kind of mixture for sandwiches, or eat it just like that, cutting into pieces.

Few people know that baked milk, beloved by many, is also a traditional Ukrainian drink. Since ancient times, the inhabitants of this country also know how to brew beer and prepare kvass, and Crimean wines are still considered one of the most delicious.

As a sweet lover, I like Ukrainian desserts the most. First of all, these are dumplings, about which Nikolai Vasilievich Gogol wrote in his “Evenings on a Farm near Dikanka”, cheesecakes and, of course, the original Ukrainian cake called “Medovik”.
