I want to tell a wonderful tradition.
Watering Monday comes immediately after Easter. According to tradition, on this day it is customary to pour water on their relatives and friends, and on this day the guys took the girls to the river if they wanted to marry them.
The most important tradition of this water holiday is dousing with water - this custom is observed on the first Monday after Easter not only in Ukraine, but throughout Europe - in Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary. On this day, early in the morning, the girls went to the river to swim or wash, and the guys lay in wait for them on the shore and poured water over them. This was done so that "the beauty does not wither."
In addition, on this day, the guys went from house to house, and especially to those houses where adult girls live, to surreptitiously splash water on them as a sign of liking.
If a girl was not doused on a Watering Monday, this meant that she was not favored and respected in the village. And if the guy didn’t douse anyone, it was believed that he definitely wouldn’t find a wife this year. In response to the pouring, the girls gave the guys Easter eggs, and they flaunted them to the whole village: the more Easter eggs the guy had in the yard, the more respect he deserved.
Be sure to visit your friends and relatives on this day, and you need to start with the godparents. Be sure to take a few Easter eggs and Easter cakes with you. The owners of the house, in which the guests came, should answer them the same. It was believed among the people that a man should enter the house first, this would bring wealth and happiness to the family.
