I caution you that if you are only interested in health and don't want to know anything else, then close this article and go to the "Body Purification" section, because we are going to talk about more than just health. But, if you want to know more about yoga, then you have a good opportunity to get more complete information.
The first level of yoga
For those living beings who identify with the material body and want to have a healthy body, there is a method of physical development through the practices of hatha - yoga. The materialistic person wants health, and yoga gives them these opportunities. Yoga is a very unobtrusive system of health, but at the same time it "does" its job. It cleanses the body, and with it the mind of the individual, of both gross and subtle ignorance. All this happens automatically, you don't even have to think hard about how. But if a person just comes one time to practice, but continues to drink vodka and eat meat, then yoga is of no help to him. (That's why so important in yoga are the principles of yama and niyama, which facilitate the progress in yoga, without them hatha yoga is just gymnastics and nothing more).
So along with cleansing the body, yoga cleanses the mind and lifts it into the guna of goodness, which is arranged in a very specific way. The guna of goodness enlightens the mind and intellect, so those who enter it begin to question the purpose of life, love and compassion. The mechanism of the guna of goodness engages the higher chakras of a person at full power and then he can slowly, little by little, ascend to a higher level of purified consciousness. Being on a new level of consciousness, a person needs new techniques that would lead him further. Now it's not enough to do hatha yoga on this level, because you have to work with your mind. So there's another level of yoga, which is yoga - intelligence or gyana - yoga and budhi - yoga.
The second level of yoga
The next level of human development is intellectual development. This type of development is based on gaining knowledge. A person learns new information that gives him a new perspective on the world, on life and death, love and disappointment.
Let's take one example with death. Ask the average person a question about the purpose of life. In response we will hear about a car, an apartment, children's education, and other goals. Let's ask the second question, what is the purpose of all this if with death everything will come to an end. And here!!!!!!!!
You can test your intelligence level and give your original answer, but whatever your answers are, gyana - yoga will smash them to smithereens. This system of yoga is designed to overcome human stupidity and awaken the individual's intellect to self-awareness.
The first steps on this path are to try to understand who we are and why we have been given life. If a person asks such questions and actively seeks answers to his questions, then one may consider that he is on the road of intellectual development. But if a person is not yet interested in such questions, it means that budhi, or spiritual intelligence, has not yet turned on. And here the yoga-intelligence comes to the rescue, which tells the man: "Think, dear friend, why do you need life, if death comes and takes everything away?
Do you even know what happens after death? Do you know how painful it will be to die, because you will have to leave everything, including everyone you loved? Why do you, my friend, suffer in this world, for you want love, which you find nowhere here, but only songs about it?"
I hope you understand the further principle of yoga. It boils down to asking wise questions and giving wise answers.
The methodology of gyan yoga is based on the understanding of the structure of the world, the knowledge of all the psychological characteristics of different types of people and other scientific methods, so there are no counterarguments to this system, there is only unwillingness to see reality. But to overcome the stupidity and ignorance can only man himself. Yoga techniques only give tools to solve problems.
The third level of yoga
And now we're going to move on to what can be achieved through the practice of yoga in terms of spiritual development. We are talking about spiritual development, not religious development, because there is a huge difference between the two. So that we can better understand the difference between the two, we are going to look at both of them.
Religious development involves believing in something or someone. This type of development involves joining a group of believing people who adhere to a certain way of life and thinking. In many religious organizations, a great emphasis is placed precisely on a sense of community, the spirit of the group. This is usually seen in the example of those religions that dominate certain states. Followers of these religions are happy with their new status and think of themselves as good religious people.
In so doing, they often attack other religious processes and their followers without even seeing the bigotry on their part, which has nothing to do with religion. The supposed followers and leaders of their religions cannot even adhere to the canons of their religions, such as not eating meat, alcohol, adultery and others, so what can we say about spirituality. Religiosity is based on an idea, which then becomes a means (for the religious leaders) to manipulate the minds of people and their money as well.
Therefore, the so-called religious development has been privatized by dishonest leaders who use it for their own selfish purposes.
"Well then, what is spiritual development," you ask me.
Spiritual development consists primarily in the development of a new level of consciousness. The essence of this new level of consciousness is that one begins to see one's own spiritual nature and the nature of other individuals. All living beings are spiritual personalities who are temporarily in material bodies, and they are only shells for the soul.
Purification of the heart
But there is still one essential detail of spiritual development, and that is the cleansing of the heart from lust, anger, greed, arrogance, and other subtle coverings. It is even possible to understand the spiritual nature of other living beings, but that doesn't mean that all at once everything will change and we will love everyone.
