On May 1, Ukraine celebrates the Labor Day or International Workers' Day. The holiday is celebrated in 142 countries and territories of the world🤔.

In some countries, May Day is celebrated at a different time - these include, for example, the USA and Japan. More than 80 states (including India) do not celebrate Labor Day😱.

On May 1, 1886, American workers went on strike demanding an 8-hour day. The strike and accompanying demonstration ended in a bloody clash with the police😧.

In July 1889, the Paris Congress of the Second International, in memory of the action of the workers of Chicago, decided to hold annual demonstrations on May 1. The first day of international solidarity of workers was celebrated in 1890 in Austria-Hungary, Belgium, Germany, Denmark, Spain, Italy, USA, Norway, France, Sweden and some other countries. For a long time, May Day was a symbol of the revolution, the irreconcilable class struggle.
ORIGIN FIRST
In the middle of the 19th century, with the growth of production, more and more people in industrialized countries (Europe, USA, Russia, etc.) left the village and moved to the city, where they got jobs in factories and plants. The working day of workers, minus three breaks for meals (1 hour for lunch and 20-30 minutes for breakfast and dinner) lasted 12-15 hours. There were no usual days off for us - Saturdays and Sundays🤔.

Heavy physical labor was poorly paid, the workers lacked food and lived in conditions that did not meet sanitary and hygienic requirements. In most cases, their dwellings were overcrowded. Cheap child labor became widespread😔.

All this led to an aggravation of the social situation. Workers began to unionize and organize strikes, demanding higher wages, an eight-hour day, and other improvements in working conditions. At the same time, socialist and communist, as well as anarchist ideas began to spread among them. The most radical supporters of these ideas called for a social revolution - the establishment of workers' power.
May 1 for me is first of all a day off with friends or family, when we can go out into nature or sit at the table in the country. As a rule, this is a chic table with food or a barbecue. This is not the warmest weather for swimming yet, but you can open the season and swim in the river, lake, sea.
