It absorbed the green of the tall silky grass that grew near the iron fence of the linden alley that stretched along our entire street, the emerald green of the curly clover that covered the ground, the green of the glossy leaves of old poplars nestled snugly, in a flock, in the center of our yard.
This is the green transparent depth of the lake, surrounded by old thick trees in the forest.
This is the green, anxiously blinking, semaphore light at the black night station, full of quiet joyful laughter of meetings and bitter tears of separation.
It was also the color of the long-awaited Christmas tree, decorated with silver balls, mysteriously gleaming in the silence of the early January morning.
All my life I have been trying to unravel the riddle of the green color, to understand what its secret is, what is so inexplicable it is fraught with.
