I'll give some tips to help you live here and now.
Pay attention to your surroundings
One way to be in the present moment is to notice your surroundings. How often do you take time during the day to look around and see what's going on? When was the last time you sat down, closed your eyes, took a deep breath and just looked around?
When you stop to take in your surroundings and look at everything that surrounds you, it is easier for you to live in the present moment.
Focus on one thing
While multitasking may seem more productive at the same time, it gets in the way of living in the present moment. Although a task that requires your full attention may seem overwhelming at first, remember how much more productive you are when you are fully involved in the task. Compare this to trying to cram a few things into the same time frame, or spending half your energy on three different projects.
Be grateful for what you have now
Part of living in the present moment is taking the time to be grateful for what you have now (not in the past or future). If you're constantly focused on what you don't have, you don't take the time to appreciate what you currently have.
Accept things as they are (not as you want them to be)
If you are going to start living in the present, you need to let go of thinking about how you think things should be and accept everything as it is. You can't control everything that happens around you; sometimes life doesn't turn out the way you want. The practice of acceptance will help you let go of the things in your life that are out of your control.
Spend time with people who make you feel happy and energized
This can be a great way to help yourself live in the present moment. A positive, supportive environment will increase your own level of optimism and joy. This will allow you to focus on what is good happening right now, instead of dwelling on past or future events.
Take a break from social media and technology
You may think that constantly checking your social media accounts helps you stay connected to the world, but in fact it negatively affects your ability to be present in the present.
How many times have you been doing something else and found yourself checking social media? It is important to learn not to let technology take over your life as it can prevent you from being aware of what is going on around you. Particularly when you're with other people, it's important to focus on the people and environment around you, rather than being distracted by your phone.
So, living in the present requires that you take the time to appreciate where you are, what you are doing, and who is around you. Instead of dwelling on the past or worrying about what will happen in the future, try to enjoy every moment now.
