Several ways to get rid of negative thoughts

Change the wording of the problem

Try to change the wording of your problem a little, and you will understand how much its meaning has changed. Compare: "I'm in big trouble, I don't have a job" and "I'm going through a period of change in my life, I'm trying to find the best solutions." In fact, the initial data did not change, but after you called the troubles changes, the attitude towards them became completely different. Sometimes it's useful to look at the situation from a different angle and look for pluses even where, as you thought, there could not be any.

Try changing your body language

When you are angry or annoyed, pay attention to your face and body. The forehead is furrowed, the corners of the mouth and shoulders are lowered, the hands are involuntarily clenched into fists, the gaze is from under the forehead.
If you constantly think about something bad, your body adjusts to thoughts and emotions. And when such a state becomes a habit, the body gets used to this position. Surely among your acquaintances there are people who, in any situation, keep a contemptuous mask on their faces. A similar pattern also works in the opposite direction: a frowning face, a tense body contribute to a deterioration in mood. Therefore, the first thing you should do on the way to get rid of negativity is to change postures and facial expressions. Straighten your shoulders, stop slouching. Feel the tension in your body and try to let it go, relax, smile at your reflection in the mirror. It will only take a couple of minutes, and you will feel how negative emotions are replaced by more rosy ones, it becomes easier for you to breathe.

Think about the present

The worsening of your mood is most often due to the fact that you are immersed in negative memories of the past or imagine a bleak future. Thoughts like "What would happen if ..." don't give rest, because in life not always everything went like clockwork. Constant travel to the past makes people suffer, doubt their abilities. As a result, they lose self-confidence, stop enjoying life, and are afraid that their actions will again not lead to the result they expected. People are also made to worry about thoughts and fears about the future, especially if big changes await them ahead (job change, relocation, marriage, childbirth, and so on). We must try to live today, absorbing all the good, joyful and positive that it gives. The past must be left in the past, and there is no point in thinking ahead, because no one knows what awaits him in a month or a year.

Share your feelings

According to the results of studies and surveys of people with cancer, 60% of them kept everything to themselves before the onset of the disease and did not tell their loved ones about their problems. This is proved by the fact that internal unrest, which does not get an outlet, leads to a deterioration in health. Therefore, in no case should you close yourself in, otherwise there is a risk of getting at least a nervous breakdown. If you feel that negative emotions remain inside, try to talk about them. After you say out loud all the reasons why you are upset, you will understand that in reality everything is not at all as bad as it seemed at first glance. You'll feel better, and the negative will go away.

Find a hobby

It's amazing how much free time can lead to negative thoughts. Usually a person begins to think about the bad at the moment of loneliness or when he has nothing to do with himself. Therefore, try to spend less time alone with yourself in a state of procrastination. Meet friends, go to the gym, learn and try new recipes, watch educational programs that cover topics that interest you. You can also devote your free time to walking, shopping, listening to your favorite music or reading books.

Take time for walking

Sometimes a simple walk in the fresh air helps to put your thoughts in order and realize that in fact everything is fine. It’s just that this is such a period, and every black stripe is necessarily followed by a white one. Especially this technique helps if you have a negative atmosphere at home or at work and you can’t calm down in such an environment. Walking does not have to be limited to the park. You can go to a museum, an exhibition, buy a movie ticket or have a cup of coffee in your favorite cafe - such seemingly simple actions help to find balance.
