I worked in a law firm that dealt only with family law (divorce, child custody, wills, inheritance, etc.).
However, we had eight clients who were getting divorced after more than 20 years of marriage.
All of them were high-ranking military officers whose wives decided to get divorced after the children had grown up and left home and the husbands were getting ready to retire.
It seemed so strange to me, but I guess for some reason the women thought their responsibilities to their husbands and families were coming to an end and wanted to live for.
I don't think they could have decided to get a divorce 30 years ago because times were different.
But I wondered, why were they all attracted to military guys?
Maybe because military husbands would be away from home for years while serving?
I never understood why people get divorced after such a long time until I lived it myself .
