But let's imagine what would happen if you wear such a belt for a week. Firstly, it would complicate intimate hygiene a little. How would you wash yourself if you were wearing a piece of iron below your waist and above your knees? And it is unlikely that chastity belts were made of stainless steel. Over time, the entire belt would be covered with a layer of rust. In this case, a disease of the genital organs would be a matter of days. Secondly, was it convenient to relieve need in such a belt? And thirdly, even if not metal was used in the belt, but rough skin (however, then it could be easily cut if desired), when walking for a long time, it would fit into the inguinal region, which would cause terrible pain. No one in their right mind would subject their loved one to such torment.
A book written in 1405 is the oldest source that mentions a device similar to a chastity belt. In book along with a description of assault guns, crossbows, instruments of torture and other attributes of medieval life, mentioned "metal breeches that the girls fastened in front." But the ironic tone in which this text is written makes one wonder if these breeches were invented by the author himself.
But there were chastity belts: everyone can see them in historical museums. Then what were they used for? It's simple: the girl voluntarily put it on for personal safety. And, of course, she kept the key to him. Most likely, the chastity belt was necessary when the army came to the city, or the girl needed to go somewhere through a dangerous area.
