Friends on social networks

When social networks just started to gain popularity, it was fashionable to add everyone as a friend. The "coolness" of a person was determined by how many people are listed in his subscribers. However, things have changed now, and clearing your list of friends from time to time is quite beneficial, especially for mental health. Here are some tips on how to do this:

• identify reasons - think about why you want to "unfriend" these people. Perhaps you don't communicate anymore, or you just added them for the sake of quantity;
• don't worry about how your decision will be perceived by people who are no longer included in the list of friends. Most likely, no one will even pay attention to it. If asked, you can say that you leave among the subscribers only people with whom you regularly communicate;
• if you are not annoyed by the person himself, but by the photos, posts or news that he shares, just hide the publications from the feed.

Mess in the apartment

In most cases, we perceive cleaning as a tedious task, but in fact it is a great way to clear the mind, get rid of negative thoughts and increase control over the events that take place. There are several rules:

• don't try to clean the whole apartment at once. Better every day put in order one room. A beautiful and tidy bedroom, kitchen or living room will be a great incentive to keep it that way and clean other areas. Quickly fix any obvious imperfections (stow things in the closet, pick up the trash from the floor, make the bed), and then walk around the room again, focusing on the details;
• don't store clothes that have not been worn for a year - it is better to sell them or give them to friends. If you have recently lost weight, do not leave large items in the closet “in reserve” so as not to gain the same weight;
• select a shelf, drawer or box to store papers, otherwise they will spread throughout the house. This approach will not only get rid of visual noise, but will also allow you to find the right document as soon as you need it;
• if a thing does not have a "permanent place of residence", most likely, it will constantly be lost. Every day, choose three items and find a home for them. It is best to store like with like - then there will be no difficulties during the search.

Disturbing thoughts

Anxiety is everywhere: at work, in relationships, in everyday life. Therefore, anxious thoughts need to be dealt with:

• accept your excitement. When you notice worrying thoughts popping up in your head, try labeling each of them. For example: thoughts from the category “what will happen if”, “worry about the future”, “financial uncertainty”, “attempts to control everything”. The main thing is to convey the essence;
• refuse reinsurance. If it is difficult for us to cope with excitement and lack of confidence in the future, we turn to relatives or just acquaintances for support. This is not bad, but there is always a risk of shifting responsibility for what is happening to another person. Try to learn to trust yourself and cope with problems on your own, moving forward in small steps;
• think about a solution. If the intrusive thoughts are valid and require action, consider what you can do. Think you forgot to lock the apartment? Ask neighbors or family members to check if everything is fine. Worried about a fight with your partner? Initiate a conversation during which you can find out everything. Sometimes anxious thoughts are connected to the past or the future, which makes you worry about the perspectives. Try to learn from previous experiences and minimize the stress associated with change.

Unnecessary things

I've already talked about cleaning, but the issue of unnecessary things should be moved to a separate paragraph, since they often become the cause of the chaos that reigns in our apartment and life. You don't have to send them to the landfill. If things are in good condition and all the parts are in place, take them to a charity.

You can also make a list of things that you don’t use, put it on social networks and invite your subscribers to tell why they need this or that item. Then give it to the person who needs it the most.

Another option is to arrange swaps. This is a movement that embodies the idea of reasonable consumption. Most often, swaps take place in the format of parties where things are exchanged. First of all, we are talking about clothes, but you can also exchange books, cosmetics, gadgets, household items, etc. Coupons can be issued for each item brought. Exchange participants can then choose an item and "pay" for it with the issued coupons.

Digital trash

Digital junk, like ordinary garbage in an apartment, provokes stress and a sense of helplessness. Dozens of open tabs, hundreds of unread emails, endless notifications, useless apps on your phone that have only been used once, all on one small device. In such circumstances, it is difficult to concentrate on one thing, not to mention making a decision. To feel peace and relief, you need to get rid of all the accumulated rubbish. Here's how to do it:

• empty the mailbox. Unsubscribe from mailing lists, set up filters so that there are no advertisements and messages from social networks among the letters. Only important letters should come to the mail, either from relatives or related to work / hobbies;
• uninstall network applications and use a browser on your computer. This will significantly reduce your “communication” with social networks, since applications will no longer open with one click;
• disable notifications. They constantly demand that you discover one, react to another, watch a third. Instead, make a schedule for using applications, for example, from 12:00 to 12:30 - reading the news, from 17:00 to 18:00 scrolling social networks, and so on;
• leave accounts in one or two social networks. It is not easy to maintain activity in several instant messengers and social networks at the same time - they require a lot of time and effort. Does it make sense to spray?
• put your smartphone aside. The closer the phone is, the more often you are distracted by it. Hands themselves reach out to scroll through the news feed, watch a funny video, etc .;
• take a break from work without resorting to gadgets. When you want to unload your brain, you immediately grab your phone. However, the result is just the opposite - you load your head with unnecessary information even more. It is better to go outside and get some fresh air or read ten pages of a book.
