Sometimes ghosts appear over Lake Baikal, including an express train that rushes off into the distance.

Residents of the village of Bolshoe Goloustnoye often observe the ghost of a train flying over the water surface of Lake Baikal. These are not fairy tales, because confirmation can be found in the works of the researcher Lomakin.

A well-known geologist in his books talks about a ghost he saw. Once he sailed across Lake Baikal on a ship, went on deck and was struck by an incredible sight: in pitch darkness, a fast train was rushing over the water. Lomakin writes that he even saw carriage windows - they shone brightly and there were people behind them.

The fact is that at that very moment, on the other side of the huge Baikal, almost 50 km from the ship, a train was actually moving. Only he flew not in the air, but along the rails. It was not possible to understand how his image appeared so far and clearly. However, many people saw the fast train, which rushes somewhere far away over the calm noble Baikal.

Mirages often occur during the day when it is quiet and there is not a single wave. Residents also talk about the strange soaring of some capes. For example, employees of the meteorological station on the Big Ushkany Island saw how the northern corner of Olkhon, together with the Khoboy cliff, took off and began to move smoothly towards the mainland.
