Locals claim that sometimes you can see the ghost of a village over Baikal. It glows orange and appears most often in three places at once. It is said that the ghost is so realistic that people even try to count the number of houses and look into their windows. The village usually appears near Cape Solnechny, in the north of Olkhon Island, as well as near Bolshoy Ushkany Island. Usually people are struck by their grandiose appearance at once three or even five mirages.
But there are days when twenty villages appear above Baikal. A truly extraordinary spectacle that is a must see.
