10 things all single moms of boys should know
id: 10049304

Talk about his father.
Teach him bathroom etiquette.
Like any mom, I went through stages where I was never in the bathroom alone. So when it came time to potty train my son, he automatically wanted to sit and pee – which I totally allowed. I was just thrilled he was peeing in the potty!
Remember he's not the man of the house.
Sure, it's cute to refer to your son as "king of the castle" or tell him a dinner out at the diner is "date night." But he's not responsible for helping you run the household (aside from his chores) or keeping you company in the absence of a husband or boyfriend. That may sound harsh, but it's important for your son to be a child.
Give him good male role models.
Show him how cool a strong woman really is.
Get used to the "boy stuff."
But push to keep him well-rounded.
Schedule family time.
Find — and lean on — your village.
Remember that blood doesn't make a dad.
