id: 10047302

During the reign of Prince Danylo Halytskyi there was a voivode Mykula, who was very loyal to the prince. Once, while walking in the Carpathian mountains, he liked this place very much and told Prince Danylo with great enthusiasm. He listened to him, gave him a rank and said: take your faithful soldiers and go develop that land. Upon arrival in the village, he convened the inhabitants to establish his law and order. People welcomed Mykula, and they built a dil (fortress) on Dilok mountain, which served as a customs house. All merchants who went with goods to Zakarpattia through the village had to pay a tax, due to which industry and agriculture developed. Then the community decided to name the village Mykulychyn.

Boyar Mikula was walking with his army in the mountains. But one day Mikula hesitated. The enemy army surrounded him on a high mountain, surrounded him from all sides. There was nowhere to go. But Mykula's army and Mykula himself had no fear. Then they sang their patriotic songs. Their singing, like a great thunder, rolled over all the mountains - over Hoverla, over Pruts, over Prut. Through all the Carpathian valleys. The enemy army was afraid of that singing, and their leader ordered to capture Mykula. And swords rang, armor rattled, and fresh blood of enemies poured. Mykula fought and fought, slaughtering the enemies, and the end of the land was not visible: there were many enemy gates, but Mykula was not afraid, he ran to the mountain above the river, stood over it and laughed at the enemies, and they were grinding their teeth. They rushed up the mountain to him, and he killed them all.

And this mountain was called Mykulynka, and the village - Mykulychyn.
