Sagrada familia
id: 10047057

Maybe in fifty years, when the surrounding houses are broken, giving scope to the eye, the Sagrada Familia Cathedral will look the way Antonio Gaudi conceived it in the last century: with all eighteen towers, including the 170-meter "Christ", and "Virgin Mary", and "evangelists", and "apostles".
The construction of the Church of the Holy Family began in 1884 and continues to this day, but in 1926, after the death of the project leader, construction was stopped for a long time. Subsequently, there were many discussions about whether the Sagrada Familia church should be completed after Gaudí's death. Several attempts were even made to continue the creation of the brilliant master, but they were so helpless, so unconvincing that they only emphasized the extraordinary plastic expressiveness and power of his art, Gaudi.
Sagrada Familia was conceived as a symbol of the inviolability of the Catholic Christian faith and was supposed to become the focus of a whole complex of buildings, mainly schools and other educational institutions. The unfinished church is known throughout the world as the main creation of the famous architect Antonio Gaudi.
The Sagrada Familia rises out of the ground with a kind of geological stubbornness that is characteristic only of rocks. It is defiantly foreign both to the architectural style of the city and to the era - even the present one. Some cursed him, others praised him - as a result, even unfinished, it became a symbol of Barcelona and will remain so for a long time, if not forever. The cathedral, which embodies the most exquisite architectural features and forms inherent in nature itself, has no sharp corners and sharp lines.
With its unique appearance, this building is able to amaze anyone. Its grandiose, with some kind of volcanic generosity decorated facade "Christmas" recreates the traditional motifs of Christian art, reincarnating them in an extremely original manner. Antonio Gaudi was a devout Catholic, and in the Sagrada Familia church, his faith took on an exciting surreal embodiment, without compromising religiosity and reverence.
