Recently thought about the variety of side dishes in my daily cooking?
At the top of the hit parade - rice in different versions, tomato-cucumber salad and plain guacamole (yes, I regularly serve it as a side dish for steaks). And, of course, potatoes - most often in the form of mashed potatoes with additives such as pumpkin, broccoli or cauliflower?
And when I'm too lazy to cook, do I open a jar of pickled mushrooms for fried meat?
Periodically, I bake and fry vegetables - such as broccoli, sweet peppers and green beans. But they, of course, are not able to defeat potatoes.
Cereals on my table are quite rare. Barley and bulgur were rejected by my brother, I have no love for buckwheat. In principle, you won’t cook different exotics like quinoa and spelt every day?
We don’t consider pasta as a side dish in principle - somehow it didn’t work out.
Most of the dishes I cook at home do not require side dishes. I eat a lot of hearty salads, fried noodles and rice, casseroles, potato pancakes, soups and other independent dishes. That's how we live?
