Memorial sign to Poltava Galushka
id: 10048836

The ceremonial unveiling in stone of the traditional Ukrainian folk dish — galushka, took place in Poltava on April 1, 2006, and was dedicated not to the Day of Laughter, but to the birthday of the Ukrainian-Russian classicist Mykola Gogol, who made galushka famous throughout the world in his works. The initiator of the appearance of the original memorial sign was Anatoliy Kukoba, a member of the Verkhovna Rada, and the very idea of creating a monument, as a visiting card of the city, appeared among local artists a few years before its opening.
The memorial was built purely with sponsorship, not budget funds, and the construction cost was approximately 100,000 hryvnias.
The monument immediately became one of the most popular places in Poltava among citizens and guests of the city. In addition to popular love, he was often criticized, because in fact a bowl of food became the business card of a large historical Ukrainian city. This work of art, which represents the wealth and well-being of the family, is a huge deep plate with 12 dumplings already prepared and a large spoon on a pedestal in the form of a wooden table top.
