I like not only the holiday itself, but also the preparation for it. Our family usually starts preparing for this event a month in advance: we think about what to give each other. I love handmade gifts, so every year I give all family members postcards that I make myself. I also really like it when mom goes to the store for a gift for dad and takes me with her🌟✨💥🎉🔥.
About a week before the holiday, we get together to discuss the menu. Most often, mom offers dishes, and dad and I agree. Because she knows what we like to eat and what we don’t like and takes everything into account. After we discussed the festive table, we go to the store. On the one hand, I love this moment. At first it seems unusual that there are so many people in the store. But then I get tired of it☺️😏.
A few days before the new year, my dad and I take out an artificial Christmas tree and put it in the living room. When the spruce is installed, mom begins to decorate it with toys, tinsel and rain, and dad starts decorating the house with a garland. These are my favorite activities, so I am happy to help my parents when they ask for help. After that, mom starts decorating the house🏠.
Now our house is ready to receive guests and welcome the new year. It's time to watch Christmas movies. This is our family tradition. We choose an evening when our parents are free from work, mom bakes cakes and cinnamon cookies, cooks cocoa, we sit on the sofa in the living room and watch a movie. Of course, we try to choose different films, but sometimes we also include our favorite ones. Dad's is The Grinch Stole Christmas, Mum's is Yolki, and I'm Home Alone. I always look forward to this evening because I enjoy spending time with my family. I also enjoy eating cookies that my mother baked. She makes them in different shapes: in the form of angels, bells, Christmas trees, deer. They are topped with frosting. It's very tasty🎂.
On the morning of December 31, grandparents arrive. They always give me sweets and beautiful books. Last year I received a large encyclopedia about cats as a gift. It had a lot of interesting facts about different breeds, as well as beautiful photos🎥🎞️.
During the day my aunt and sister arrive. At about 11 pm we see off the old year. And after meeting the new year and the chiming clock, we go outside to blow up fireworks🎇🎆🪔🧨.
