Over time, some traditions of holidays among different peoples undergo a transformation. However, Ukrainians celebrate the New Year, as in most countries of the world - they set a large table with a variety of dishes, put up a Christmas tree, decorate the house, buy and give gifts, and set off fireworks. On New Year's Eve, most Ukrainians also got used to not sleeping, so as not to miss their happiness. Even in Ukraine, there has not been a special tradition with whom to celebrate the New Year, as, for example, it is customary for Christmas: someone does it with their family, someone chooses a noisy party or a narrow circle of friends.
On the New Year's table, an obligatory dish is Olivier. Traditionally, Ukrainians cook herring under a fur coat, aspic, meat dishes and fruits.
