Old New Year .... hmm, I wonder if there are any questions after this proposal? This is the New Year, but according to the old calendar, it is celebrated on February 14th :)
So imagine we celebrate New Year twice lol!
But on this holiday, Ukrainians cook dumplings as the main dish, and also put various prizes in the form of coins, sugar, salt, pepper. Each "prize" has its own meaning. This is considered New Year's fortune-telling.
What do "prizes" mean?
Coin - to money and prosperity in the coming year.
Sugar is the sweet life
Salt - to tears
Pepper is a bitter life.

Remarkably, sometimes one person can literally get all the "prizes".
To believe or not is the business of each person. But it's a fun tradition that almost every family has.

I wonder how the new year will be - profitable, sweet or salty, or maybe bitter? Every family has its own traditions and it's great!
