The name Valentinus (Valentinus) was at once several early Christian holy martyrs.‼️

1. Valentine Interemonsky is a bishop who lived in the Italian city of thermal in the third century. According to legend, he healed the sick, and then turned them into faith. For these miracles, he incurred the anger of the Roman authorities, was executed. 🙌🏻

2. Another Valentine - Roman - lived at about the same time. There is not so much known about him, the main thing is that he was also sentenced to death. 🙌🏻

3. Through the historically famous St. Valentine, according to the medieval collection of narratives about Christian torment, "lived in Africa, where he suffered." Nothing more about him is known. 🙌🏻

Unfortunately, it is impossible to say exactly who of these three men about romantic legends about the bottom of all lovers. Today, the image of Valentine has already turned into something generalized. The romantic coloring of these martyrs (or this martyr) was given by Jacob Voraginsky, who in about 1260 created a collection of “Entertaining Lives of Saints” - “Golden Legends”. It was after this that Valentine was assigned the title of patron of lovers.
