The Shrovetide holiday in Ukraine is celebrated from February 20 to February 26. This holiday is one of the most fun. It is symbolized by the awakening of spring and the farewell of winter.🥞💖

Shrovetide is an ancient Slavic holiday. Therefore, it has many traditions, rituals and beliefs. The appearance of Maslenitsa is associated with the pagan god Yarila.
Today Maslenitsa can be called a fun folk festival.
The main idea of the Pancake week is to say goodbye to winter and meet the spring. Interestingly, in paganism, this holiday was celebrated not at the end of winter, but on the day of the vernal equinox. 🥰
In the church tradition Pancake week is called the Cheesefare Week. This is connected with the fact that during this week people can eat fish and dairy products, to prepare themselves for the beginning of Lent. Believers believe that in this way it is possible to cleanse the soul and body from negative energy. The Maslenitsa week ends with a special feast, which is called "Farewell Sunday.
That is, the modern Pancake week absorbed the traditions of many centuries, becoming the holiday that we know today.🤗✨
Many people on this holiday bake pancakes. Pancakes are the main and well-known tradition of this holiday, as well as its symbol.
I would like to share the atmosphere of this holiday with someone I love and who will become part of my family and part of me.🥞
