WHEN A MAN LOVES A WOMAN" 1994
A poignant drama about a man's selfless love for a woman and the serious trials they both have to go through. Alcohol becomes the troublemaker of a model family with two young daughters, and the heroine Meg Ryan becomes addicted to it. The sensitive husband, whose role was given to Andy Garcia, in a crisis situation behaves more than nobly - he tries to unite the family and even admits his guilt in the appearance of his beloved woman's addiction.
"SPRING HOPES" 2012
Meryl Streep is a star of the melodramatic genre. In her portfolio there are many works suitable for our list: "True Values", "Simple Complications", "August: Osage County" and others. However, the most suitable for film therapy would be one of the recent films - "Spring Hopes". Her characters are married for 31 years, and both feel that the relationship is not what it was before - it is almost faded. To save the marriage, the wife goes to the family psychologist, who offers very original methods of solving the problem.
"A STORY ABOUT US" 1999
The narrative in "The Story of Us" is conducted as if the characters (a prosperous married couple going through a relationship crisis) came to a session of marital psychotherapy. Therefore, the "therapeutic" effect on the relationship after watching it occurs by default. Together with the screen couple, played by the brilliant Michelle Pfeiffer and Bruce Willis, the viewer goes through all the stages of the evolution of the marital relationship over 15 years: the beginning of a joint household, children, the first troubles, irritation with each other, which accumulates over the years - as a result the couple finds themselves on the verge of divorce. The story is quite realistic and suspenseful, maybe not everyone will see the film through to the end. And that's a pity: in the finale, the characters will find a way out of a difficult situation.
"MEMORY DIARY" 2004
Among romantic melodramas, "The Memory Diary" is not for nothing recognized as a classic of the genre: it is a touching and very believable story of love to the grave, which was able to withstand all the tests of strength. Perhaps an example of this permanence in the relationship is not often encountered in life, but steadily inspires the audience. By the way, even men appreciate Nicholas Sparks' plots for genuinely life-like scenarios, so it won't be hard to attract a boyfriend to watch.
"INTIMACY" 2004
A cautionary tale of a severely confused relationship. The plot is based on a love quadrangle played out by Clive Owen, Natalie Portman, Julia Roberts and Jude Law. Each of the heroes is unable to make sense of their feelings, which eventually leads to a serious heat of passion and a completely unexpected denouement. A very emotional and in some places sharp psychological drama about the relationship between the sexes.
"LAST NIGHT IN NEW YORK" 2010
A must-see film for couples bored with passion. It's about two prosperous couples who will be separated for just one night - it will force them to doubt each other and pass a serious test of temptation. Peripeteia unfolds between two couples - who will succeed in remaining faithful to their other half? And what should we consider infidelity? It will be something to ponder with your boyfriend after watching it.
