🌷 On March 8, Ukraine celebrates a public holiday - International Women's Day, which from year to year for decades brings a bit of romance, because it is on this day that most men seek to join knightly traditions.

🌷For the first time, "international" Women's Day was celebrated in 1911 in four countries - Austria, Germany, Denmark and Switzerland - on different days. In 1912, Women's Day was celebrated by the same "narrow circle" of countries and again on different days. In 1913, Women's Day was first celebrated in the Russian Empire. But the outbreak of the First World War forced Europe to forget about any holidays for a long time.

🌷 In the USSR, International Women's Day acquired an official status and was celebrated widely and solemnly.
The year 1975 was declared by the United Nations the "International Year of Women", then on March 8, at the suggestion of the USSR delegation, by decision of the same UN, it received the official status of "International Women's Day".

🌷The modern celebration of Women's Day no longer has the goal of affirming equality, but is considered the day of spring, female beauty, tenderness, spiritual wisdom and attention to a woman. In Ukraine, it is a non-working holiday.

🌷In Ukraine, March 8 is a traditional day off, so it is customary to celebrate the holiday in the family circle or with friends. Men necessarily pay attention to every woman in their lives and give gifts or flowers to grandmothers, mothers, sisters, wives and daughters. On March 8, toasts and compliments sound from everywhere.

🌷 How is March 8 celebrated in other countries of the world?
Poland and Germany do not have a day off. But men always bring bouquets of flowers to their relatives and acquaintances. In Lithuania, March 8 is considered the holiday of the arrival of spring, which is associated with the love and beauty of women. However, among Lithuanians there are many opposing opinions about International Women's Day itself. Many women do not see the point in celebrating this holiday, because it is associated with Soviet times.

🌷 And in Italy, on March 8, men are by no means allowed into the women's company. This is how Italians celebrate the day of solidarity and independence from the stronger sex. In Greece, on March 8, women traditionally pour water on men, using their temporary power.
