How did international women's day actually appear?
id: 10043448

The idea of holding International Women's Day first arose in the early twentieth century, when the industrialized world was going through a period of expansion and upheaval, a population boom and the emergence of radical ideologies.
Since those early years, International Women's Day has taken on a new global dimension for women living in both developed and developing countries. A burgeoning international women's movement, strengthened by the four UN Global Women's Conferences, helped turn the event into momentum for a coordinated effort to empower women in the political and economic process.
The fact that this holiday is now with us, we owe it to her. Clara Zetkin is a journalist and activist in the international social democratic movement. And she is also called the woman who stood at the origins of feminism. Throughout her political career, Clara tried to achieve equality. She even launched a women's magazine on behalf of the German Social Democratic Party, which was published under the same name Die Gleichheit ("Equality"), in which she made articles about famous women of her era. She also became one of the founders of the German Communist Party. During the International Conference in 1910 in Copenhagen, she proposed to establish an international day for the struggle for women's rights. This call was supported by her closest friend and colleague Rosa Luxembourg.
