So.... drumroll!
1. Make your bed.
As strange as this advice may seem to you, outer order is a reflection of your inner state. By starting the day with a tidying ritual, you're programming yourself to be in a good mood for the entire day.
2. Smell the roses (or something else).
Smell is a powerful provocateur of emotion. Smells associated with happy memories can instantly lift your mood. But if the perfume that used your first love, was not at hand, will do and other flavors. This smell of citrus (reduces anxiety), vanilla (fights a bad mood), coffee (invigorating).
3. Follow the "rule of the minute."
This means that all the things that will take you a minute or even less (like having to hang up your coat, print out a document, or answer an email) should be done right away. For each completed task (even throwing a crumpled piece of paper in the trash) your brain rewards you (and yourself!) with a small release of dopamine (this is the hormone that causes feelings of pleasure or satisfaction).
4. Listen to a fun song.
Even if your delicate nature finds inexplicable charm in sad songs, forget about them for a while. For a quick pick-me-up, turn your attention to energetic tracks. They'll get your brain going.
5. Smile
The connection between a smile and a good mood is two-way. That is, by smiling, you not only fake happiness, but you also start to feel it. (I wish it were the same with simulating a female orgasm!)
6. Jump
Your body produces endorphins when you jump, so even after 30 seconds of this activity, your body's stress levels drop. It is impossible to jump with a sour face. If you don't believe me, try it right now. At the same time you'll cheer up the people around you.
