Spring is here, and with it, Easter!🌸🌷
In Latvian traditions, Easter is considered a great holiday. After all, the very name of this holiday is translated from Latvian as "Great Day".⭐️
This is a very symbolic celebration of the victory of light and life over darkness and death.🪺
Most residents of Latvia celebrate Easter with their families.👩‍❤️‍👨
There is a sign in Lavtia - on the first Easter morning, you need to cover the ceiling in the house so that it is not gray all year round, but pleases the eye with its cleanliness.☺️
The premises must be decorated with birch branches with catkins, willow or hazel branches, and, of course, painted eggs.😍
On Easter morning it is considered useful to pat each other with willow branches, including domestic animals and even bees.🐝
They pat each other lightly so as not to damage the willow buds, and say: "Go away the disease, come health."🙈

Egg fights (olu cīņas)🪺
Colored eggs are rolled off a hillock or from a gutter. I came across two options:
1) The goal is for your egg to roll the farthest without being beaten. Whoever succeeded - he won and can take someone else's.
2) The goal is to beat someone else's egg - then you can take it. And roll again))
There are also traditions associated with Easter eggs. So, if the father of the family divides the first Easter egg into as many parts as there are family members in his house and distributes these parts to everyone, then the family will live in harmony.

Easter swing ride🪵
The tradition is that the swings are erected precisely on Easter, and then they must be burned so that the witches do not ride on them, but more often they are simply dismantled.
According to legend, it is necessary to ride on a swing, then mosquitoes will not bite all year later.
And swing riding is not only entertainment, but also a way to attract the attention of the spirits of the harvest: the higher the swing takes off, the larger the future harvest should be.

Easter dishes:🍽
- of course eggs;
- Easter cakes;
- cakes that symbolize the sun;

- round pea balls, which are made from pea flour and potatoes with or without hemp, add lard fried with onions. Served with curdled milk or buttermilk.

Birch sap, herbal teas, beer were used to drink from drinks, now the range has expanded.

Kindergartens and schools are decorated with Easter compositions.
Decorative eggs are hung on trees.
Easter pictures on the windows.
In Lido on Krasta (Krasta iela 76), on Easter there are always a lot of cool Easter decorations and cages / pens with rabbits, goats / sheep on the street.
The same cages / pens are often still in the park near the Cathedral on Easter (in Google maps, type Esplanāde).
Children love animals and we usually hang out in such places for a long time.💘
