In my previous blog, I mentioned "RELIGIOUS HOLIDAYS - RELIGIONS AND PEACE - BROTHERHOOD".
Now, I would like to talk about a city that is identified with a lifestyle that fits the views I expressed and expressed in my previous blog.
The foundation of this city dates back to 100,000 BC. Hatay is a cultural mosaic with thousands of years of history, home to 13 civilizations, and peaceful coexistence of all religions. In addition to its historical and cultural riches, it is also famous for its cultural beauties and cuisine, which was declared a "City of Gastronomy" by UNESCO in 2017.
HATAY is a city located at the eastern end of Turkey's Mediterranean Region.
The World's 3rd Largest Mosaic Museum: Hatay Archeology Museum
The Archeology Museum, which is the largest mosaic museum in Turkey and the third largest in the world, is in Hatay.
The World's First Cave Church: Saint Pierre Church
Located to the west of the Orontes River and the world's first Catholic church, Saint Pierre is known as one of the symbols of the city, as it holds the title of being the oldest of Christianity and the world's first cave church.
The First Mosque of Anatolia: Habib-i Neccar Mosque.
One of the most important religious buildings of Hatay is the Habib-i Neccar Mosque, the first mosque of Anatolia. The mosque, which was built on the site of an old temple in 638, takes its name from the carpenter Habib-i Neccar.
Our citizens, who have various religions and cultures in our city of Hatay, have lived in this city for hundreds of years with the feelings of respect and brotherhood. Holy places of worship belonging to every religion are available in this city.
Unfortunately, the great earthquake that took place on February 6, 2023, along with the death of thousands of our people, and the destruction of thousands of buildings, caused great damage or complete destruction in historical places of worship.
This year; This special month, in which Ramadan, Easter and Passover holidays coincide every 36 years and people from three religions fast, was celebrated with sadness among our citizens who survived the HATAY earthquake.
HATAY, the city where religions and cultures live in fraternity, will be rebuilt after the earthquake in a way that will keep the same spirit alive and the same brotherly life will continue.
Note: The city you see in the photo is now a ruined city.
