The official birth date of flamenco is 1785. It was then that Juan Ignacio González del Castillo, a Spanish playwright, coined the word "flamenco."
Flamenco is a creation of Andalusian gypsies. Thanks to this people, the dance that we know today was formed. A straight back, raised arms in a bend, a moment of immobility, heels clearly reflect the rhythm, a sharp turn, plastic and sharp movements.
The traditional female costume of a flamenco performer is a long floor-length dress or bata de cola. The clothes were borrowed from gypsies and became a symbol of femininity and attractiveness.
