For many vacationers, Phi Phi appears to be an uninhabited island, like the Similan Islands, but it is not. The well-groomed territory and prepared infrastructure of the island are not close to the Similans. There are both hotels, guesthouses and bungalows. From year to year their number is growing and it is not even an hour that Phi Phi will turn into the third most popular resort in Thailand, after Phuket and Koh Samui.
The main infrastructure is located in a ravine, between two hills. It has its own promenade, along which there are many small shops, souvenir shops and stalls with traditional Thai cuisine. There are many tourists here, but mostly English speakers remain for a long time, and Russian travelers traditionally come to the island, for a day or two, on a ticket bought at a tour desk (so the Russian language is traditionally heard on Maya Bay beach), but you can consider the option of accommodation here for a longer period, but travel companies for the most part do not offer such accommodation.
Transport accessibility within the group of islands is quite affordable, but on land you will have to travel on foot, since motorbikes are not particularly in demand here. You can use the services of water taxis (Longtail Boat), which will take you both within Phi Phi Don (to Long Beach or Tonsai Beach, which are located on opposite sides of the gorge), and to neighboring uninhabited islands and to the famous Maya Bay.
Taking a water taxi to Maya Bay is much cheaper than booking a transfer by ferry or other transport from the mainland. Water taxi prices:
• within the main beaches of Phi Phi Don - 100 baht;
• to Lo Mu Di beach — 600 baht;
• distant bays of Pi Pi Don — from 800 to 1300 baht;
• taxi rental — from 1.5 thousand baht to 3 thousand baht (from 3 to 6 hours);
• transfer to Maya Bay — 1.5 thousand baht;
• to Bamboo Island — 3,000 baht (two people for three hours);
• for reference, the ferry from Krabi to Phi Phi Don is 10 thousand baht for 10 people if you can find these 10 people.
