What are the best essential oils to use in the bath?
Lavender. The perfect essential oil for beginners – safe, relaxing in every way, and non-irritating to the skin.
Chamomile. Reduces stress, soothes the skin, gives a particularly carefree mood.
Sage. Relaxes and nourishes without causing irritation.
Eucalyptus. It is very gentle on the skin and has a strong antiviral effect.
Geranium. Safely nourishes the skin, improves mood, relaxes.
Spruce. Tones up, useful for colds. It is necessary to carry out a skin test before use: some oils can slightly irritate the skin.
Myrtle. It has a great effect on the lungs and at the same time is very gentle on the skin, softening it.
Pettigrain. Effectively fights stress, relaxes.
Pine. Perfectly tones and fills with energy, without overexciting. Usually does not cause irritation, but it is better to test on the skin.
Tea tree. Cleanses and disinfects, safe for the skin.
Palmarosa. Strengthens the immune system and fights viruses, but can cause a warming, slightly irritating sensation; it is very good to use it together with lavender.
Important for beginners: start using essential oils in the bath and shower gradually, testing each essential oil on the skin (on the crook of the elbow or knee) to make sure it suits you. Start with 3-4 drops and add 1-2 more drops each time, but be careful not to overdo it. With an excess of essential fumes, you may feel dizzy or have a headache, and the threshold of unpleasant sensations is different for everyone: for one, five drops of essential oil in the bath is already too much, for another, twenty is a normal dose. Focus on your well-being and feelings in general.
