Each year, many ladies come to North American or European countries to get married. And the burning question on everyone’s minds, men and women, is, “why?” There are might be a lot of personal reasons, but the overall situation of the country and people is well known.

The structures of Russian and American society, respectively, are very different. In Russia, there is still separation between man and woman in society. Many people struggle financially, mostly due to the country’s poor economic situation. There are fewer opportunities for an average Russian citizen to get a job that he/she deserves even with a high level of education. Corruption and alcoholism are the biggest problems in former Soviet countries these days. According to statistics compiled in the 1980s, there were “two thirds cases of violent crimes and murders committed by people under the influence of alcohol.” And all that stems from the fall out of the dissolution of the USSR.
Because of those factors many ladies cannot imagine themselves having a life that they want in those countries. Since many Russian men suffer from alcoholism, it is hard for ladies to find a strong supportive person and start a good, healthy family. A lot of times men can be abusive to women and kids due to drinking problems, and that puts women and kids in big danger. According to a survey,” 29% reported that violence against children is in the families members of which suffer from alcoholism.” Russian men still believe that woman should stay home and be a house wife, but nowadays ladies want more freedom and deserve the opportunity to achieve their own personal goals.

The best alternative for Russian women has been to find men in other countries, (most popular ones are USA, Canada, and UK). Those countries have different cultural perspectives when it comes to gender equality. Most people are financially stable, and, overall, their countries’ situation is far better suited towards raising families.
There are a lot more opportunities for men and women to get an education and build a career. Also men in other countries seem to respect women more, and willing to have a family and provide for it, which is a very important aspect in creating a new generation. The concept of society in other countries is very different. People are more open minded. Their way of thinking is different. The reason why it is not like that in Russia is because the concept of USSR did not allow people to be open minded and have their own opinion. There were specific rules according to which people lived for 70 years and it has left its engrained itself into the fabric of society affecting even the latest generation of Russian youth as well.

Russian ladies are very respectful, family oriented, loving, supportive and caring. Their main priority is to have a happy and healthy family. They are willing to work if they need to. Furthermore, Russian women are very beautiful, which happens to be the biggest attraction for men. For Russian men those things are common and they expect women to be like that, so they don’t appreciate it as much as men from other countries do.

By looking at all pros and cons of life in former Soviet countries and life in European and North American countries, most Russian ladies pick the second choice. They feel that there are men outside of Russia with a lot more to offer in a higher quality of living, security, and happiness in general.
