ONE OF THE INTERESTING LEGENDS ABOUT SAINT NICHOLAS

Many centuries ago, in the city of Patara on the Lycian Peninsula, lived a holy man named Nicholas. This saint was known for his generosity and kindness, and the entire community respected him for his philanthropy.

In the same city lived three sisters who were left without parents and money. Unfortunately, they were so poor that they couldn't escape a bad marriage. An oppressive prince, using his power, decided to marry them off to wealthy but cruel men.

Upon hearing about the orphans' plight, Saint Nicholas decided to help them. On the night before the wedding, Saint Nicholas went to the sisters' house, bringing with him three bags of gold. Saint Nicholas knew that the prince would come early in the morning to take the sisters with him. So, he hung the bags of gold on the stockings hanging by the window.

Morning came, and the prince, along with his courtiers, arrived in the village. Approaching the family's house, he saw the golden bags hanging on the stockings. The salvation from the holy man astonished the prince, and he decided not to ruin the sisters' lives. Instead, he abandoned his cruel intention and left the city.

In this way, Saint Nicholas saved the three sisters from an unfortunate marriage, bringing joy and prosperity into their lives. This legend became a symbol of generosity, protection, and blessing, with its profound meaning transcending through time.
