What is this for you - an empty superstition, a folk sign or a motto?
Historians believe that the proverb “How you greet the year is how you spend it” was already known in Ancient Rome and is considered one of the most ancient. Although many consider it “folk wisdom” without thinking about its origin.
New Year is one of the oldest holidays, which people began to celebrate after realizing the cyclical nature of time and life. The beginning of a new cycle, cleansing of the old and renewal, plans and hopes for the next year - all this has had an important psychological moment in people's lives for thousands of years.
Awareness of the cyclical nature of time and the onset of the new year led our ancestors to the idea that the future is a continuation of the present and it can be “attracted” by certain actions, creating a certain beginning for the further realization of the desired through its imitation. From here, numerous rituals and superstitions subsequently arose, like some kind of magical actions.
After all, we all strive to celebrate the New Year in the circle of loved ones, at a rich table and in a joyful mood, in order to psychologically recharge for the next 365 days. And of course, with all these actions we subconsciously send a message of joy, love, abundance and goodness to the Universe, so that it returns to us a hundredfold!
