Secrets of a happy marriage

1.KEEP CALM
Don't act like you're sixteen and don't know anything about relationships. Leave manipulation, hushing up problems and constant reminders of old grievances to the pioneers. All this turns life together into an endless series of mutual reproaches and accusations. And if you have children, it sets them an extremely poor example of what marriage should look like.
Try to control your emotions and avoid harsh statements when you are angry. It is better to calm down first, and then discuss all the problems and try to find solutions. This is the only way to maintain a happy marriage.
2. ACCEPT THE PERSON AS THEY ARE
It is almost impossible to remain the same person you were at the beginning of the marriage, especially if twenty years have passed. And there’s no need: height is a sign of a healthy personality. But the traits that form the basis of character will still remain. That is why it is so important to understand even before the wedding ceremony how much you love a particular person with all his shortcomings. Focusing solely on the good aspects is not a good idea.
3. COMPROMISE
Be prepared for the bumps and challenges your couple may face in the future. A big mistake is to think that you know everything about relationships.Always listen to your partner and respect what matters to him. And even if you do not agree with his opinion, try to find a compromise. Otherwise, there will be no happy marriage.
4. SHOW YOUR FEELINGS FOR EACH OTHER
Someone makes coffee for their wife every morning, although they could have bought a coffee machine long ago. And someone places small notes throughout the house with words of love and support. For others, it’s generally enough to just get home from work on time - everyone’s love language is different. Every small gesture matters. By pleasing your partner, you strengthen the bond and increase the chances of keeping your marriage happy for many years to come.
5. DON’T COMPETE ABOUT WHO HAS DONE AND HOW MUCH
Relationships are not the Olympics or a football match. Life rarely plays fair. You can do one thing that will weigh about the same as ten actions of the other half. And vice versa. A good partner always intuitively feels when it is better to give in and when to insist on his own. Guilt is easy to manipulate. For example, remind you of someone who constantly sits with the children to get what they want. But how far will this take you? Try to focus on the good and say more words of encouragement. Appreciate the time spent together.
6.KEEP YOUR SENSE OF HUMOR
Many things in life are perceived much easier if you take them a little less seriously. And scientists from the University of Göttingen, in the course of their research last year, came to the conclusion that what first attracts us to a partner is his sense of humor. It helps convey emotions and thoughts in a fun way and never lets you get bored.
7.DON'T FIGHT OVER TRIGGER THINGS
As a rule, the main secret of a happy marriage is a willingness to make concessions. Let's think: is it really fundamentally important where he put the cutlery? Is it worth spending time on this that can be spent together enjoying each other's company? It's probably better to give in at some point. Otherwise, it will turn out like in the fairy tale about two goats - they locked horns and both fell into the water.
8. VALUE YOUR INTERESTS AND PASSIONS
It is not necessary to completely dissolve in each other in order to be together. In fact, the more differences you have, the stronger the union. Go for long walks alone, meet friends. Think about your hobby or find something you've been wanting to do for a long time. Appreciate the time you spend apart. At a minimum, you will always have something to tell each other about. And this is at least some variety.
9. SUPPORT EACH OTHER
A happy marriage is always a partnership and great friendship. You are no longer on your own. You have the other half, whose interests and feelings you now have to constantly think about. Take time to look at your partner with different eyes and appreciate his qualities, skills and talents. Does he like alpine skiing? Offer a joint workout. Does he like to lie in the bath for a long time? Give a set of scent bombs.
