Why we are not happy...?
id: 155798
Privet Everyone,

Happiness is different for almost everyone. Look, really see the people around you. Take particular notice of those who are happy, especially those who many would not expect to be happy given their circumstances. We can find clues in those who smile readily, laugh easily, radiate joy and often display kindness to others.

My belief is that the truly happy dare to be so despite the cards they have been dealt by life. You know who I am talking about. Obstacles are opportunities, not barriers.

I know two men who fit prosthetics or artificial limbs for those who have lost arms or legs. Each man has a missing leg. The first thing you notice about them is that they smile often and long...laugh lines around their eyes. They often wear cargo shorts as it is usually warm here in my part of Virginia. Both men are avid golfers. They do not hide or cover up what many would see as deformities. Each has a smiley face, a heart or cartoon on what would be their kneecap. Kids see this feature most often.)))

Another whom I admire helps what many would call damaged children. Kids who have been physically or emotionally abused, others with medical issues like cancer. She uses horses to help these children. Those who can ride by themselves or with assistance do so. Others benefit by just being around the horses. A horse will listen and not judge, hears without words and loves unconditionally.

Yet another couple shares their two wonderful dogs with hospital patients and retirement home residents. These are trained as therapy dogs. Dogs can reach even the most lost, shut in or closed person. People who will not react to another human being will light up at a dog coming to visit.)))

Have you noticed someone in a service job who excells at what they do? Doctor, dentist, nurse, massage therapist, librarian, teacher, waitress or bartender or the man who makes your coffee in the morning?

You know who I am talking about, we all have favorite people in our lives who make a difference wherever they find themselves. They may do something huge like give you reason to believe in yourself or simply share a kind word, smile or look each time you meet.

Others touch us with Art. Think of times when you have been able to forget your troubles, been transported by music, a painting, sculpture, a great book, poetry, theater or dance. Maybe for you it is nature. For me, it often involves water like walks along the York River or gazing up at the stars and moon at night. Meteor showers are favorites.)))

Find your happiness. Set your smartphones and other modern distractions aside. Surround yourselves with people who drink the cup of life to the last drop. Be with those who share the good times and lift us up when we fall. Seek your adventure, be bold, brave of heart and love with abandon.
