First many people do not know this about Ukraine when dealing with English language.
Most and I mean most not all. Schools in Ukraine have taught English for many many years. So why do they struggle at speaking it ? Well in Ukraine most students were taught to read and write English for nearly 20 plus years. But Ukraine didn't emphasize the speech part of it. And in most schools in Ukraine still do not !!!
No I won't list any school. But some schools have had English lessons for students for a 12 year as part of their education. That is why they can read and write English so well!!!!
When your dealing with English there is several countries that are considered native speakers of that language.
As a example take a look at Great Britain that country a lone has 17 different dialects of English. You can travel 10km or about 7 miles. And their verbage is completely different . Australia has 5 dialects and the US has 4.
Out of all the English language you can learn. The best one is the US English .
I'm not saying that because that's the country I'm from. But it's the cold hard truth!
It's the one form of English that most television, movie actors , newscasters, use the most! It's simple and clearly more audible than the rest of English from every country. Far less complicated with less slang, less accents and can be spoken clearly at different speeds.
Don't believe me ? Russia , Asia , South and Central America and now many European countries are speaking American English. It's the number 1 English used in international business .
What makes it difficult for Ukrainians is simple. They were never taught to speak it. How to use their whole mouth while trying to say words or sentences.
The big question is why ?
Ukraine deep in history and culture has a internal struggle for centuries. The western part of Ukraine speaks mainly Ukrainian , share more western style of living. In the middle of Ukraine you have a mix of Ukrainian language and Russian. While on the eastern part of Ukraine speaks mainly Russian.
If that isn't confusing enough?
Theirs a mixture in Ukraine with slang that can come out almost Serbian .
Based off countries that are still tied to Russia from the rest. Like Belarus , Moldova just as examples.
When dealing with Slavic culture you must understand the history. Slavic languages are based in many countries . Like Slovakia , Poland , Ukraine, Czech just to name a few. Russian language is in all terms not Slavic in reality.
Even today in Ukraine they teach English in written form for years to their students. But do not have enough money to pay English speaking teachers in lower level public schools. Like elementary , grade school or even High school. Very few schools might have that advantage.
In Ukraine they have everything there like they do in the US, Canada, or any other country. The biggest thing they do not have is money. Expendable cash is in short supply for them. So paying for English speaking lessons are a luxury many can not afford sad to say!
So your best option is learning Russian . Why Russian ? It's very similar to Ukrainian. And it's widely more available to learn over Ukrainian language.
It's actually really important both people learn each other's language as much as possible . Why ? Because in life some words, phrases, and thoughts are hard to express or understand in one language or another. But being able to work with both you will have less difficulties while your wife adjusts to your country.
I personally trained several Russian women who moved here to the US for their jobs. I was close to fluent . But after years of not using it. I truly now have to think on it.
The best way to start learning any language is short 3 or 5 word sentences of things you do every single day. Say them in Russian or Ukrainian . I'm going to work . What's for dinner? Do you need help ? Im taking a shower .
If your a lady on this site you should be doing this as well.
Do not worry about being perfect . Laugh about it. Learn a few bad words in each language that you both can laugh at.
The single most important factor before you even think about getting married to a woman from another country is ?
You better make sure you have a " lot " of time available for her !!!!
Or your going to have a lot of problems!
Remember she is giving up everything for you and love !!!! Her friends, family , security, her entire life!!!!
She will be highly dependent on you for a year at least !!!! I don't care if she speaks fluent English !!!! She is going to be dependent on you completely.
There's far more to learn that just a language!!!! Money, driving, foods , directions, shopping, besides everything you take for granted as knowing in your own country!!!!
It's the littlest things that hurt your relationship more than the big things!!!
I've learned this from women from Europe , Asia , South and Central America even women from Mexico.
I've dealt with many many women who moved to the US. It was shocking to them our way of life compared to theirs .
The size of our stores to the way they shopped in their countries ! The list is endless !!!!
Even women who have moved to Europe , Asia or any other country from Ukraine were highly surprised after they moved as how different each culture is from one another .
As one Ukrainian lady told me !!! She moved to another European country. She was in disbelief how she was treated people there. To go to a doctor with her baby her husband had to take her. Just to prove he would be able to pay and has insurance . Or to get a refill on medication for their own child . She wasn't allowed only her husband was.
This was in Europe !!!! It's worse in many other countries !!!
So learn to be able to speak some in their language it's a must !!!
The last thing any man wants is a new wife that is unhappy and regretting she moved there!
Your dealing with another persons entire life they are placing in your hands. As well as both your futures !!!!
Her feelings, thoughts , ideas, beliefs, and dreams are just as important as yours !!!!
