Traditions and modernity of orthodox Easter
id: 10055157

This year, like many centuries before, Ukrainians are preparing to celebrate Easter with special trepidation. Preparations begin several weeks before the holiday: houses are cleaned until they shine, Easter cakes are baked, eggs are painted in bright colors, symbolizing rebirth and new life.

One of the most beloved traditions is painting eggs, or pysanky. Each egg🥚 is a small masterpiece, decorated with unique patterns and symbols that convey blessings and good wishes. On Easter night, people go to church with lamps and baskets filled with Easter cakes, eggs and other delicacies to bless Easter food.

Modern Ukraine preserves these traditions, but also gives them a new sound. Fairs and festivals are held in cities, where you can try Easter treats, listen to folk music and take part in master classes on making Easter eggs. Young people gather for Easter concerts and exhibitions, where modern art intertwines with ancient rituals.

Easter in Ukraine is not just a religious holiday, it is a time when everyone can feel like part of a large and friendly family, a time for reflection and renewal. And although everyone celebrates it in their own way, what remains common to all is a sense of unity and belonging to a great culture and traditions that are passed on from generation to generation.
