When I was at school, a delegation came to us. One foreigner per student. They all quickly sold out and I came across a tall, smiling black man. True, for two with a classmate. We had to show the school and tell how wonderful life was for children in the Soviet Union. And also bring treats and set the table in the director’s office. I felt embarrassed in front of a foreign guest; all the prepared phrases immediately flew out of my head. Saved by a classmate. We escorted the guest to the doors of the director's office, which slammed inhospitably in front of us. A black man gave my classmate and I gifts - I had a pack of chewing gum, and she had a figurine with a picture of some building. Apparently, the foreign tourist did not expect that there would be two of us. Oh, miracle. The figure fascinated me. “Let’s exchange,” I suggested to my classmate. She looked at me like I was crazy. How can I exchange chewing gum for some figurine??? What would you do if you were me, what would you do?
