Let me start from the beginning: did you know that during World War II, British scientists developed a project codenamed Project Habakuk? They planned to create a floating aircraft carrier from... ice! Ice was mixed with wood pulp to create a material called pycrite, which was stronger and more buoyant. The project was ultimately not implemented, but the idea itself is simply amazing.
