Why does our mood change throughout the day?

I became interested in what exactly influences such a changeable mood. Maybe it depends on what tasks we face, or how much they inspire us? Or maybe this is influenced by the environment or some external factors?

For example, yesterday I had a day when I woke up in the morning with the thought “I want to sleep until lunch,” but then something happened, and in the evening I was already planning new projects and was full of enthusiasm. And this morning I started with big plans, but by the evening everything somehow came to naught.

I wonder how often you have days like this? What helps you stay motivated and enthusiastic throughout the day? Maybe you have some secrets or habits that help you stay on top despite all the difficulties?
