Do you often have to renew your driving license in your country? I mean renew your driving license?

My driving license has expired, and I have the opportunity to go to a driving school for free and renew it. But I still have to go to classes, pass the theory, driving, and it's not a fact that I'll pass the exam and they'll give me the documents)
