They say there's no such thing as female friendship. But I have one incredible story. It's a story about my best friend, with whom we have been inseparable since high school. She and I met in fifth grade in the cafeteria and we fought over a school bun. When we reminisced about it, we laughed a lot. That's how stupid real friendships sometimes start. So began our friendship, which survived all the storms and joys of school life.
She was the kind of friend with whom we could laugh to tears, prank and protect each other. Oh, how many adventures we had! I remember one day we decided to skip classes and hid in the attic of the school. We set up a “camp” there, stocked up on sandwiches and magazines, and spent two whole lessons there until the cleaning lady found us. She didn't scold us, but offered to help us clean the attic. Of course, we got out of it by making up some ridiculous story about “important research on spiders in the attic.” We still laugh remembering it to this day!
One summer, when we were 12 years old each, we decided to go camping in the woods one night. Imagine: two girls, one tent and a huge amount of enthusiasm. But, of course, our parents didn't let us go and punished us. Then we spent the whole night complaining to each other that no one understood us. At the time it seemed like a disaster to us, but now it's a funny memory
But, as is often the case, life makes adjustments. Two years ago, my friend moved to another country with her family, and we haven't seen each other since. We text each other often, but it's just not the same anymore. Honestly, I'm terribly sad without her. I miss our late night sit-ups with tea and cookies, the funny stories we used to create together. Now I have no one to discuss new shows with or come up with funny entertainment. She has a family and lives far away.
Of course, I realize that everyone has their own life and their own worries, but sometimes I wish I could go back to the time when she and I were together, when there were no distances and adult problems. I dream of the day when we will meet again, hug each other and laugh about how life has separated us but couldn't keep us apart.
Friendship is something incredibly precious, and despite all the difficulties, I am sure that our friendship can live forever.
